Knowing the format is half the job. The other half is deciding what to say. Here is what experienced matchmakers recommend.
Include
- Accurate basics. Age, height and qualification are verified quickly – never round up.
- A short “About me”. 2–3 lines on your nature, interests and outlook. “Calm, family-oriented, enjoy trekking and reading” tells more than a hobby list.
- Career in plain words. “Software engineer at a product company, Pune” beats jargon and designations nobody understands.
- Family in a positive light. Mention values, traditions and what your family enjoys doing together.
- Clear contact. Name the person to be contacted and a convenient time.
Leave out
- Exact salary if you are uncomfortable – a range or “well settled” is acceptable.
- Aadhaar, PAN or passport numbers. Never include ID numbers.
- Negative remarks about previous relationships or family disputes.
- Long paragraphs. Biodatas are scanned, not read.
Common mistakes
- Blurry or group photos.
- Inconsistent capitalisation and spelling (“b.tech”, “B.Tech.”, “BTech”).
- Too many fields left as “N/A”. Delete fields you don’t need – our editor lets you remove any row.
